2006 YFZ450 Project build
Hello and welcome to the new MX Revolution. As you may know MXR was putting together a project
build for the 2006 season which main intent was to compete at the ESPN series and also to be a top
contender in a the ATV Riders builder of the year contest. With that said its is looking like both of the
main events are not going to be operating like their main intent. ESPN/MXI released a 2 race series one in
Oklahoma and one in Las Vegas. Still not set in stone. As for the ATV Riders contest? Does not seem to
be present as well. Besides all of that, so far this machine has had a tremendous amount of worthy
sponsors that feel confident in this build.  We cannot stress how the sponsors below have helped so
much. We did not just go out and try to get a company for bragging rights. A few things we looked for
that these sponsors work strong in were one being performance. The performance and durability of a
product is very important for any ATV enthusiasts. Two being customer service, wait and time of arrival
on a product is a huge factor for any enthusiasts. No one wants a to buy from somewhere that is not
professional and does not have a fast turn around on getting a customer a product. And lastly the cost of
a product. Everyone knows when it comes to racing money and racing go hand and hand. We are not
saying all of the sponsors have the cheapest items out there. But we will assure that for the price you pay
on these products you are getting the best money can buy and the best there is to offer! For this build I
being the business owner and the primary racer I wanted to have products that I know will hold up to the
severe abuse that it will withstand this race season. It would not look good for me going out to races and
having mechanical problems. This is why we were very picky on to whom we wanted to work with. So
to get things rolling I went to a local Yamaha shop and picked up the brand-new 2006 YFZ450. After
picking the YFZ450 the madness began contacting worthy sponsors. And lets get rolling with the write up
reviews and pictures.

Suspension: Elka
When it came for a good suspension that had the main category’s that we strive in when making a order
in the summary paragraph there is no other company out there that out does their self like Elka
Suspension. In my years of racing I have ran several different suspension absorbers. Normally wait times
were always 4-8 weeks at least! But when you go out and order a set of Elka products you will receive in
1-2 weeks. Rarely is there a 3 week wait. I have yet to have shocks come from elka and take longer than
10 business days. Elka equipped the MXR build with their Elite (HS/LS) Compression and Rebound
adjustment. The way these shocks work are phenomenal! And I mean amazing. The way you can fine
tune low speed and high speed sections on a track is truly impressive. Elka has only been in this game for
a few years and their technology is leaving other competitor shocks in the past! Did I say competitors?
Let me rephrase. There is no competition with elka. If you think about the other shock companies and
know how long they have been around and how their shocks have been the same for almost a decade and
you look at Elka and it seems like their shocks are always changing as they are constantly testing and
developing new products to help riders do what they love and that is ride hard!

Wheels: Hiper-Technology
When it comes to high Quality carbon fiber rims Hiper is the only word you will hear. For this build Hiper
hooked us up! This machine has the 8x8 rear dual bead locks with integral splined hubs. So this means
the wheels already have hubs. No need for your 4 lug nuts and stock hubs. One bolt holds them on the
rear. For the front we went ahead and threw the 10x5 outer bead locks with a rolled edge inner. The
quality is top notch and Angie’s customer support was superior. One of the trick things I thought was
neat is how the fronts just slowly slide into the bead after putting air. No excessive air needed. No more
bending aluminum. Also when using LSR front hubs you are unable to use the nuts that come with the
aftermarket hubs. You must use your stock hub/wheel nuts.
Body Upgrades: Quad Tech ATV
One word superior. That is exactly what Quad Techs products are to this industry. Quad Tech has been
providing the ATV and Jet ski era with the best possible carbon fiber products out there. Quad-tech is
always inventing new products that will help benefit your ATV needs. Below are the quad tech products
we received for this build.
Lo-pro hood: The lo-pro hood was practically an instant bolt on product.
This hood came with a pattern that you line up on your fenders to where
you must cut a 4”x4” hole so the lo-pro lines up. No major cutting
Master Cylinder guard:We added the master cylinder guard to protect the
master cylinder from receiving wear marks from the excessive rubbing of
your boots. Mounting hardware is included and bolts on in literally 2 mins.
No modifications
Quad Tech Seat cover: When you are in the market for a replacement seat
cover. Check out our products section under quad tech which is soon to be
updated. Quad Tech not only offers the best carbon fiber on the market but
the best vinyl gripper seat covers. We have used both Quad Tech seats with
the +1 foam and standard stock foam and we can say they are both very
good upgrades. Our specific seat is just a replacement seat cover. Use stock
foam that you already have.
Exhaust: Yoshimura Titanium TRC
When it came to getting the maximum power out of our 2006 YFZ450 we
were in the hunt for the best. And I mean the best. Yoshimura is the most
forward moving company when it comes to getting maximum performance
and developing the best! I would say they are one of the most winning
companies out there. The titanium pipe is alsome. It has heat shield mounts if
you plan to use a heat shield. The silencer has a removable spark arrestor so
just incase we want to hit the dunes or trails up. We personally removed the
spark arrestor so we get that good 4 stroke thumper sound. This exhaust is
by far the best exhaust we have run. My solute goes out to Mike Kims for his
support and having interest in this build.
For our main internal engine components we ran across several offers. But one company that has
been dominating the power sports industry is Hot Cams. And after negotiating with several engine
builders we were told to contact Hot Cams as their cams are superior. Our main intent for this 2006
YFZ450 was to just retard the timing. But after wrapping the cams in this motor that Hot Cams
provide we are so glad we chose to work with them. The power the intake and exhaust cams deliver
is phenomenal. The mid range is alsome and will lead you to some good hole shots. Our hat is off to
Hot Cams
Protection: AC Racing
If you have been in this sport or even just started getting involved you know of AC Racing.
AC Racing was one of the first, if not the first to have a all in one stop shop for body
protection products. Not to mention their customer service and availability on their products
is excellent. AC Racing has just recently released a new line of products call the “Black Line
Series”. So of course we wanted the new and latest products for this build. The new black
line series is self explanatory as the products are powder coated black. We did not have to
look far at all to get the best!
AC Pro Peg Black line: The new black line series has
something that AC should of released a long time ago. The new
black line series pro peg comes with stainless replaceable bolt on
foot pegs. The stainless pegs will outlast any peg design out
these. Also the new pegs come with silver nets and a built in heel
guard. You can get the new black line series without the built in
heel guard for a few bucks cheaper
AC Black line bumper: The black line bumper is the latiest in
design AC has to offer. This new black line stadium bumper is a
new design and has a few different curve bends compared to
2005 version and actually all of their stadium versions. The black
line is once again powder coated black with a brushed aluminum
finish in the center. Which brings out a good color contract.
AC Black line Grab bar: The black line grab bar is basically
the same grab bar as always but with a black powder coat
finish. The grab bar comes with rear fender support brackets,
number plate, and also a built in flag hole support for the
dunes.

Chassis: Lone Star Racing components

For the chassis area of this YFZ450. We looked no further than Lone Star racing. For Lone Star to join us
for this year was excellent. The products Lone star has to offer for all the popular models is amazing! For
a-arms we chose the Lone Star Long travel +2+1 forward as that is the ticket. Formally LSR was
releasing DC4-+2+0. That version was upgraded with the +1 forward. Then we surely didn’t stop there.
We then added a Lone Star round housing swing arm stock length. Then while adding the a-arms and
swing arm we added aluminum front billet hubs, carrier, lock nut and E-brake block off. All these
aluminum products had a very high quality finish.
Quad Tech Belly skid:Are you tired of your aluminum skid plate rattling?
Well Quad tech has the answer for you. QT offers a thick carbon fiber skid
plate that replaces the stock form skid plate. Uses the nice OEM bolts. No
mounting hardware included as you use all of your stock components.
Quad Tech Case saver: Are you in the market for a trick and strong case
saver? Well I have the answer for you. Quad Tech offers their high durable
carbon fiber case saver. This case saver not only looks alsome but it is a
very strong addition. You will not need another case saver. I simply installed
the Quad Tech case saver over my stock case saver for double protection if
that chain pops off! And believe me it happens!
Quad Tech SPS shock covers:  When it came to finding a durable set of
shock covers Quad Tech had our answer once again. These shock covers
promote the cooling of the shock body and shock fluid while also allowing
easy cleaning of all moving parts and seals. Don’t install those shock covers
that rub your springs and leave a unfinished look. Get the Quad Tech Look!
